This film is known to be inspired by the 1981 airplane hijacking known as Operation Woyla, when a Garuda Indonesia McDonnell Douglas DC-10 flight from Jakarta to Medan was hijacked by a group of extremists who diverted the flight and forced it to land at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. At the airport, the hijackers demanded that the Indonesian government release their comrades who were being detained in Indonesia in connection with the Cicendo Incident. Kopassus forces, led by the Jihad Command, were deployed to subdue the hijackers and rescue the 48 passengers and five crew members.
