Basically, LUBACH will probably be very similar to De Avondshow with Arjen Lubach. The presenter also discusses current affairs in his characteristic, humorous way in this satirical late night show. With sharp monologues, in-depth stories and playful sketches, he and his team examine politics, media and society. All this is interspersed with changing guests, music and of course a good dose of comedy.

The Connection

The Connection is a knowledge quiz that revolves around a single answer: the ultimate connection. Hosted by Patrick Lodiers, the show features three Dutch celebrities along with viewers at home competing across four rounds. The correct answers in each round are linked to one another, ultimately leading to a single, all-encompassing answer. For instance, what is the connection between Alicia Keys, the Guggenheim Museum, the Yankees, and *Friends*? Or between the color red, May 1st, Jan Wolkers, and Doorn? Which contestant possesses not only a broad range of general knowledge but also the ability to link all the answers together to uncover the ultimate connection?

Donizetti: Il castello di Kenilworth

Recorded during the 2018 Donizetti Festival, Il castello di Kenilworth was first staged at Naples’s San Carlo in 1829. Based on a novel by Sir Walter Scott and adapted by librettist Leone Tottola, this rare opera has long been unjustly neglected. The recording features the original version of the score, with the role of Warney entrusted to a tenor (the composer changed the voice to baritone in his 1836 revision). Il castello di Kenilworth was followed by several other successful works that Donizetti similarly based on British history (Maria Stuarda, Anna Bolena, Rosmonda d’Inghilterra, Emilia di Liverpool, Lucia di Lammermoor); it presents the character of Queen Elizabeth I, torn by the inner struggle between a monarch’s duty and a woman’s feelings. The fundamental pivot of the drama is the antagonism between the two female characters who both dwell and suffer in loneliness in a male-dominated world.
