Young man in the prison is obsessed with a singer who is to perform in a new musical its director is currently auditioning for. He escapes and through complex and often very funny series of events ends up being the main star of the musical, only to be discovered by the police the day before the premiere...OK, enough spoilers! The story keeps going on... Lots of great dialogs, awesome music and singing, and ever-twisting story (plus, the parallels between the play's script and the real story) makes this one of the most enjoyable Czech movies I've seen in years (and I've seen many)! Definitely check it out if you like comedy, drama, musicals, and theater.

Tacho

A black comedy by Mirjam Landa about a successful race car driver and the race of his life. Alex cannot imagine his life without rallying and subordinates everything to it. After an accident in which his co-driver is seriously injured, Alex's manager desperately searches for a replacement, as the date of the most important race of the season is fast approaching. Alex wants to race at all costs, despite his doctor's explicit prohibition. He has been racing for fifteen years, but has always missed out on the top spot by a hair's breadth. After a fateful encounter with a girl, he surprisingly decides that she, Lucie, completely inexperienced but determined to win, will ride with him as his co-driver in the race of his life.

Who's That Soldier?

In the Czech film comedy from 1988, you can see for yourself that the war was not easy, but otherwise it was great fun. Sergeant Kouba serving with the paratroopers has a soft spot for women. His superior does not like him. However, during a military exercise on the way to the barracks, Kouba shows his true character when he saves the life of a little boy, convicts a thief and finds a lifelong partner in the commander's sister.
