Scrutinizes the sexual morals and class ideology of its day through a series of encounters between pairs of characters, shown before or after a sexual encounter. A prostitute is cheated out of her money by a drug-dealer, in the next scene the dealer seduces a maid, who in turn is hit by the son of her employer, and so on, until an actress engages in a little hanky-panky with the count, who - and this is where the circle joins - in a final scene ends up at the prostitute's apartment.

The Red Room

A young idealistic civil servant, Arvid Falk, leaves the drudgery of bureaucracy to become a journalist and author. As he explores various social activities—politics, publishing, theatre, philanthropy, and business—he finds more hypocrisy and political corruption than he thought possible. Gösta Eriksson, a hairdresser, buys a car from used-car dealer Bertil Planåker. But Gösta soon discovers that the car is a wreck. Planåker won't give him his money back, in fact he denies ever having seen Gösta. Gösta's brother Rolle is released from prison and promises to help him. They form an investment company, Parabola, and convinces Planåker to invest a lot of money in it. Planåker has a lot of shady business colleagues who also invest their money. Gösta's and Rolle's scam becomes much bigger than they had bargained for.
